Google Voice is now a Reality
With its purchase of GrandCentral Technology in July 2007, Google is now releasing its voice.
Google Voice, that is.
Google is now stepping into the realm of telephone and communications to compliment their already extensive arena of technology and services.
Google’s promise is that they will simplify communications for your phone. You will only have to keep up with one phone number and not have to manage multiple phone numbers. With Google Voice, you will have one number that can tie to your home, work and cell phones.
With some features such as setting custom voicemail for certain callers, re-routing the call, auto-answering depending on who is calling you and conference calling, Google is betting its voice service will win over customers.
One of the big features in this technology is the power of voice mail transcription. Now when you receive a voice mail, it will be transcribed to text and could be emailed. This text is also searchable for users that need that capability.
I find this intriguing and find myself somewhat skeptical at the same time. Just like any other technology, I will give it some time before I make my judgments. There are many other worthy items to discuss, but here is the whole story on the Google Voice launch:

Have something to say. Let me know.
